Still from La Lucha. Leader Rose Mery Guarita is suspended in her wheelchair from a bridge over the busiest street in La Paz, with a Bolivian flag draped over her. Below her, fellow protesters have their wheelchairs turned around, facing away from the bridge. The bustling scene captures the intensity of the protest, with buildings and a high-rise tower forming the backdrop. A photographer is positioned on a grassy area to the side, capturing the moment that symbolizes the determination of the movement.

Denied the basic human right of a disability pension, hundreds of Bolivians with disabilities make a resolve that defies reason: To trek, in their wheelchairs, across the Andean mountains to La Paz in protest. Their inspiring, grueling, months-long journey is a true David vs Goliath story. As bitter cold, rain, wind, and lack of oxygen attack their tires, bodies, and spirits, the activists also face an indifferent society and a government that unleashes tear gas and hatred to subdue them. Following the historic journey alongside four individuals, Rose Mery, Feliza, Marcelo, and Miguel, this film charts a struggle that rewrites national history, as the protestors arrive in the capital to command the nation's attention and arouse Bolivia's conscience—paving the way for a disability pension to finally be ratified into law.
